Ride Of Silence
The Ride of Silence (rideofsilence.org) is a relative recent phenomenon that started in 2003 in Dallas Texas to remember a rider who was well known in the area. It started as a one time affair, but blossomed soon after as cyclists around the world heard of the event. This event is not in any way a commercial enterprise. There is no registration, T-shirts nor other types of paraphernalia. The event is slow-paced ride (max 20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. Here are some photos from the Vancouver, BC chapter.
